On October 10, 2024, the pre-selected candidates will be contacted via e-mail.
The audition will be divided as follows:
1st TEST: Compulsory work
2nd TEST: One work selected by the candidate from the list.
3rd TEST: Interpretation of the orchestral excerpts.
Each test of the audition is qualifying.
The selection board has the right to ask for orchestral excerpts as supplementary tests in each round.
Tuning: A 442Hz
All the candidates invited to the audition have to fulfill these requirements:
- Candidates must notify their attendance or not at the audition they are registering for 10 days before it is held, as a deadline.
- Candidates who confirm their attendance must pay the amount of €30 at the time of their confirmation to the account that will be indicated to them as the Audition Fee.
Any application that does not meet this requirement without justified cause will be rejected.
First round:
First movement with cadenza, to choose from one of the following concertos:
C. Stamitz: Viola Concerto No. 1 in D major (cad. A or B from Henle ed., or 1 or Alternativ by Franz Beyer)
F. Hoffmeister: Viola Concerto in D major (cad. A or B from Henle ed., or by Franz Beyer)
The OSM will provide the necessary scores for this round in PDF format via Muvac. It is mandatory to play with the same edition as the one provided by the OSM (Ed. G. Henle Verlag - Urtext). Please do not play cadenzas or improvisations beyond those indicated in the editions provided.
Second round:
First movement, to choose from one of the following concertos:
B. Bartok: Viola Concerto and Orchestra (version by Tibor Serly)
P. Hindemith: Viola Concerto and Orchestra “Der Schwanendreher”
W. Walton: Viola Concerto and Orchestra
A prelude, to choose from the following J. S. Bach Cello Suites for viola:
No. 4 in E flat major, BWV 1010
No. 5 in C minor, BWV 1011
No. 6 in D major, BWV 1012
