The Sinfonieorchester Basel is one of the oldest and most innovative orchestras in Switzerland. It performs in its own concert series as well as in the Basel Theatre and on guest tours in Switzerland and abroad. Its principal conductor, Ivor Bolton, is an internationally renowned specialist in historically informed performance practice. The Sinfonieorchester Basel is the resident orchestra of the Stadtcasino Basel, which enjoys an excellent international reputation and reopened in August 2020 after four years of renovation and expansion. The orchestra has about 1500 subscribers. There are about 110 professional musicians who are part of the orchestra. The orchestra office employs 18 people. |
