3 Section Viola (1 Basic, 2 Service) and Sublist
Audition Repertoire All applications and deposit checks (no money orders please) must be RECEIVED by 5:00pm EST, Friday, July 28, 2023.
Three (3) positions are currently available for Section Viola, 1 “Basic” position and 2 “Service” positions.
“Basic” Musicians are guaranteed ninety-eight (98) services during the 2021-2022 38-week and 5-week summer seasons. 2023-2024 service guarantee to be determined pending Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations.
The per service rate for the Section Viola “Basic” position is $136.52 during the 2021-2022 season. The annual salary for the Section Viola “Basic” position is $13,378.96 paid in bi-weekly installments of $622.28 during the 2021-2022 38-week winter and 5-week summer seasons. 2023-2024 wages to be determined pending negotiations. Salary is not individually negotiable and may be prorated based on start date. Benefits presently include pension and access to instrument insurance. Employment terms and conditions are detailed by the CBA.
“Service” Musicians are guaranteed forty-two (42) services during the 2021-2022 38-week and 5-week summer seasons. 2023-2024 service guarantee to be determined pending Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations.
The per service rate for the Section Viola “Service” positions is $136.52 during the 2021-2022 season. 2023-2024 wages to be determined pending negotiations. Salary is not individually negotiable and may be prorated based on start date. Benefits presently include pension and access to instrument insurance. Employment terms and conditions are detailed by the CBA.
The expected start date for these positions is September 25, 2023 or at the earliest convenience of the winners. Essential duties include performing in our orchestra. Other responsibilities are outlined in our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Solo opportunities may be possible. The first two (2) years of a musician’s employment are considered probationary.
*Please note: If the open position is filled by an existing member of the orchestra, the resulting vacancy may be offered to another finalist.

Candidates may withdraw from the selection pool without penalty or consequence by Monday, August 21, 2023. Cancellations after this date are very disruptive to the audition process; any cancellations after Monday, August 21, 2023 will be documented and the $50.00 audition deposit will not be returned.
