The MA programme in Classical String Performance at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick (in association with the Irish Chamber Orchestra) is a two-year full-time programme offering advanced tuition in violin, viola, cello and double bass.
The programme's unique focus is on developing embodied, integrated, vibrant musicians, equipped to thrive in the modern professional environment.
Students receive weekly 90-minute individual lessons, Chamber Music, technique- and performance skills classes, combined with intensive classes e.g. in Dalcroze, Baroque, Improvisation, Body Mapping, Orchestral Excerpts and Large Ensemble.
The programme is led by Principal players of the Irish Chamber Orchestra (ICO) who tutor, rehearse and perform with the students.
Students have opportunities to receive orchestral training, mentorship and perform in chamber ensembles with ICO members.

Applications are now open for the 2024/25 Academic Year & study places, especially for cello, and all other string instruments are still available. A limited amount of scholarship money is also on offer.
