The double bass section currently comprises a Principal and three tutti players.
In addition, we are now searching for an Associate Principal who will mostly play from 2nd chair.
As Associate Principal Double Bass, you will support the Principal and you will lead the section for some programs each season.
A production is prepared every week. We ask that you co-lead your group in an inspiring way and carry out tasks that belong to the role of Associate Principal, such as actively participating in meetings, contributing to an up-to-date substitute list and taking part in (audition) committees.
In addition to playing symphonic repertoire in the orchestra, you will also be available for (educational and community) activities and staged performances in smaller ensembles.
It goes without saying that you distinguish yourself as a double bass player, and have excellent skills as an orchestral and ensemble musician.
You are able to provide the principal with support without taking over the lead. You must be able to take the principal's place seamlessly if the need should arise.
We expect all our members to always be well prepared on stage and to uphold the professional etiquette that goes with it.

You characterize yourself as a positively engaged team player who knows how to find the right balance between individuality and sectional playing.
Auditions for this position will be held on Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 October 2024. Compulsory works:
- Own choice between two classical concertos: Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf, Double Bass concerto E-major, 1st movement with cadenza and 2nd movement, or Johann Baptist Vanhal, Double Bass Concerto D-major, 1st movement with cadenza and 2nd movement;
- G. Bottesini, Concerto for Double Bass Nr. 2 b-minor, 1st movement with cadenza and 2nd movement;
