Ulrike Dederer

Ulrike Dederer was born in Stuttgart 1969 and was trained in violin making at the International Violin Making School in Cremona by Vincenzo Bissolotti.
She worked for more than ten years as an instrument restorer at the workshops of Jecklin in Zürich and Machold in Vienna, experience that gave her expertise and inspiration.
Since 2005 she has lived in Zürich and dedicates herself to making new instruments in modern and baroque style, in the tradition of the old Cremonese violin makers («metodo classic cremonese»).
She has been a member of the Swiss Violin Making Association SVGB since 1998.
She and her instruments have received the following awards:
In 2011 she won the 3rd prize at the 12th Henryk Wieniawski Violin Making Competition in Poznan, and was finalist at the Concours Etienne Vatelot in Paris.
In 2012 she was prize winner at the Jakobus Stainer Violin Making Competition in Hinterzarten, and also the first woman to win the 1st prize for viola at the XIII. Concorso Triennale degli strumenti ad arco.
