In 1995, Atilla Okan graduated with honors from Ege University Turkish Music State Conservatory; Stringed Instruments branch of Instrument Making program. The same year he graduated, he started his academic career as a lecturer in the same branch.
In 2003, he attended the ‘The Art of Violin Making’ workshop in Istanbul, directed by Ecevit Tunali. Following the workshop, he worked on new instruments and restorations with Mr. Tunali at his studio. He also attended the second ‘Art of Violin Making’ workshop in 2004, and continued working with Ecevit Tunali. In 2006 he presented a violin to the National Gulden Turali Violin Competition in Mersin, Turkey. In 2009, he took place as an instructor in the workshop run by Mr. Tunali, a part of the ‘Violin Making Days’ event, in Mersin University State Conservatory.
Okan studies and works on Classic period Italian violin models. He executes his work in his workshop in Izmir while continuing being a teacher of the Instrument Making department, in Ege University State Conservatory.
