Hendrik Woldring (Hein) is first and foremost a maker of new violins , violas and cellos. After training as furniture and boatbuilder and working in general music restoration he trained as a violinmaker, first in Holland under instruction of a Mittenwald trained maker, and later at the Newark School of violin-making from 1974 until 1977. He set up his first studio doing mostly new-making and some restorations in Garsthuizen until 1985 when the family moved to the town of Groningen and broadened the services to customers with a shop called “Het Strijkershuis” He has been a member of the Dutch Groep of ViolinMakers NGV www.ngv-vioolbouw.nl for approximately 25 years.
He is also a well known skillful restorer. Restoration and repairs take place at the shop in Groningen. Hein is reknowned for combining the sound structure of the instrument with regard to the aesthetic and acoustical qualities.
In “Het Strijkershuis” we also sell instruments, old and new from various sources in all sizes and priceclasses. Once again Hein’s skills
at setting up instruments in optimum playing conditions and expert restorations contribute to the high standard of the instruments on sale.
It is also possible to rent violins, violas and cellos of all sizes.
We stock a large collection of bows, cases, strings, shoulder rests and various other accessories.
